Lullabies

"In every culture the lullaby is a parent's personal message telling the child that it is safe to sleep." so says Julie Wylie, lectures of Music and Advanced Studies at Christchuch College of Education, in New Zealand.

Most people think of lullabies being for babies, but many have been composed for lovers to sing to each other!. Many people confuse lullabies with energetic nursery rhymes, I have compiled "Angel Babies" as a collection of 35 lullabies that will interest adults as well as babies, and so, it has a classical style. It is sung by eight singers, (male, and female) and accompanied by flute, cello, piano and guitar.

Why Classical Music for babies? Our children are exposed to so much noisy music. But it has been suspected over the generations, and is now being scientifically discovered, classical music actually enhances the physical and mental growth of babies and infants. Dr, Hane Standley, a Professor of Music Therapy, at Florida State University, United States, is doing research on premature babies. His results include babies sucking rate increased with music playing, and that girl babies who have been exposed to gentle music, leave hospital 11 days before the ones that weren't. Baby boys left 1 and a half days earlier.

Professor Dale Taylor, Director of Music Therapy Studies, at the University of Wisconson - Eau Claire, U.S.A. says .."music affects human behavior by affecting the brain ...My work shows that music (referring to gentle, beautiful music,) helps decrease stress and improve those areas that are damaged by stress, e.g. the immune system." Your baby will not understand the words in "Angel Babies" but he/she will be absorbing the lovely music and remember, that includes babies who are still in the womb.

"Angel Babies" is NOT a teaching tape or CD. The book is for you and you children to sing from, to your baby!. This means that your children will also learn them, to sing to their babies in the future. The lullabies have been transposed into lower keys from those on the recordings.
